Channels: Signal
Signal is a Tier 1 channel. Wayland talks to Signal through signal-cli, a local command-line client registered to a phone number. You register or link a number, point Wayland at the signal-cli binary, and messages flow through it.
Before you start (prerequisites and accounts)
Section titled “Before you start (prerequisites and accounts)”- A phone number you can register with Signal, or an existing Signal account to link as a second device.
signal-cliavailable on the same machine as Wayland.- The Wayland desktop app running with a model provider connected.
Create the credentials (on the provider side)
Section titled “Create the credentials (on the provider side)”- Install
signal-cliand register the phone number, or link it as a device to an existing Signal account. - Complete any verification step Signal requires.
- Note the phone number in full international form and the path to the
signal-clibinary.
Connect it in Wayland (Settings -> Channels -> Signal)
Section titled “Connect it in Wayland (Settings -> Channels -> Signal)”- Open Settings -> Channels and choose Signal.
- Enter the Phone number.
- Enter the signal-cli path if the binary is not on the default path.
- Save.
Verify (status goes from idle to connected, send a test message)
Section titled “Verify (status goes from idle to connected, send a test message)”After saving, the status moves from idle to connected. Send a Signal message to the registered number and confirm a reply.
Route to an assistant or team
Section titled “Route to an assistant or team”Set the assistant and default model on the Signal page. Inbound Signal messages route to that assistant.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”If the channel does not connect, confirm the number is registered and the signal-cli path is correct. See Channel Connection Issues.
