Tabs and Pop-Out Windows
Wayland shows conversations in a tab bar, much like a browser. You can have several conversations open at once, switch between them instantly, reorder them, and tear any one into its own pop-out window when you want it on a second monitor or alongside another app.
Opening a new tab
Section titled “Opening a new tab”Click the + button at the right end of the tab bar. A dropdown lets you pick which agent or assistant to start the new conversation with. The new conversation opens as a fresh tab.
You can have as many tabs open as you need. When there are more tabs than fit in the bar, it scrolls horizontally and shows gradient indicators on the edges.
Switching tabs
Section titled “Switching tabs”Click any tab to switch to it. The active tab is highlighted; inactive tabs show dimmed.
Reordering tabs
Section titled “Reordering tabs”Drag a tab left or right to reorder it. An 8-pixel drag threshold means a plain click still switches without accidentally starting a drag.
Closing a tab
Section titled “Closing a tab”Click the X on a tab to close it. If it was the only open tab, Wayland returns to the home screen.
Right-click a tab for a context menu with additional close actions:
- Close others: close every tab except this one.
- Close to the left: close all tabs to the left of this one.
- Close to the right: close all tabs to the right of this one.
- Close all: close every open tab and return to home.
Pop-out windows
Section titled “Pop-out windows”On the desktop app, you can tear a conversation into its own OS window. Pop-out windows are useful for multi-monitor setups or when you want one conversation visible while working in another app.
To pop a conversation out, hover a tab and click the small PictureInPicture icon that appears, or right-click the tab and choose Pop out.
When a tab is popped out:
- The tab disappears from the main window. The conversation now lives only in the pop-out window, so there is no duplicate view.
- The pop-out opens at the size and position from your last pop-out session, or a default size on first use.
- You can move and resize the pop-out window; the position is saved for next time.
- Live agent responses stream to the pop-out window the same way they do in the main window. No reconnection is needed.
To bring the conversation back, close the pop-out window (click the OS close button or use the traffic lights on macOS). The tab reappears in the main window.
